Kate Haley is a writer-director from Co. Donegal, Ireland. She makes visually bold films, usually with a dark twist and a dry sense of humour. She holds a BA in English Literature and an M.Phil in Screenwriting from Trinity College Dublin. She earned her MFA in Film & Television, specialising in directing, at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as a Fulbright Scholar.

A Death in the Family (2020) won Best Irish Short at Disappear Here Film Festival. Splash! (2023) earned two NATAS Southeast Student Emmy nominations. Her MFA thesis film, A Fairytale Romance (2024), won Best Student Short at Kerry International Film Festival. Her most recent directing work, Emergency Accommodation (2026), was funded by Virgin Media Television and Screen Ireland through Virgin Media Discovers. It received a Special Mention at the Dublin International Film Festival before being broadcast on Virgin Media One, and earned Kate a Young Director Award shortlisting at Cannes Lions (2026).

Her debut feature, The Shadow of Me, is in development with Screen Ireland and Tri Moon Films, and was selected for the Stowe Story Labs Connemara Writers Retreat (2026), where Kate was a Screen Ireland Fellow. She was one of eight European directors chosen for CineSud Directors Village (2025), and has received the Northern Exposure Award (2024) and Donegal County Council Artist Bursaries.
